A quick summary:
World Health Day is a global health awareness day that is held every year to draw attention to a particular topic of health that is a concern to people globally. This year’s theme is ‘Building a fairer, healthier world’ in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Our world is an unequal one, and the COVID-19 pandemic in particular has highlighted this. People are enabled to live healthier lives and have much better access to vital health services than others; simply because of the conditions in which they are born, live and work in.
COVID-19 has impacted all countries, but has had a significantly harsher impact on those communities who were vulnerable before the pandemic. These vulnerable communities are those who are more likely to be exposed to the disease due to their living or working situation, less likely to have access to decent health care and to experience higher consequences due to lockdown measures that have been put in place.
At Heka, we acknowledge that not everyone is born with and offered the same opportunities in life. To help as many as we can within our three pillars of health; mental, physical and lifestyle, we have numerous offerings, many of which are very affordable and range in price. We also fundraise for and make regular donations to various charities, such as Movember, Refuge and Macmillan. Here are some of our favourite providers that go just that little bit further:
