School's out!
Keep reading for some Heka experiences you can enjoy with your kids over the summer holidays to encourage healthy habits whilst having fun at the same time.
Get the whole family moving together
Encouraging your kids to stay active will give them a great night's sleep, boost their mental health, increase their self-esteem and maintain an overall healthy body and mind.
Sworkit is a fitness app with over 400 unique workouts, including a unique library of kids’ workouts, perfect for you to enjoy with your kids from the comfort of your home.

Another great way to encourage your kids to stay active and away from their screens over the summer holidays is to host weekly sports days. Head to the park with a few friends to play rounders, enjoy a Sworkit workout and incorporate some old fashioned activities like the egg & spoon or a 3-legged race.

Gardening
Children love getting their hands mucky, so gardening is the perfect activity to do together that will help them learn more about nature while soaking up some vitamin D at the same time.
Gardening is also a great way to stimulate your younger children's senses of touch, sight, sound, taste and smell. Plant some soft flowers for them to touch, some fragrant lavender for strong smells and incorporate bright colours for the full sensory experience.
On Heka we’re offering an online Self-Sufficient Veg Gardening Course. This fantastic course takes you right through the growing year and explores the best ways to make the most of your garden so you can enjoy the superb flavours and freshness of homegrown fruit and vegetables - the perfect summer activity to enjoy with slightly older children.
Family-friendly yoga
Yoga can be physically, mentally and emotionally beneficial for the whole family, helping children, teens and grown-ups put their worries aside to find happiness together in the moment.
Emily from Prittie Yoga is offering private family classes designed to develop strength, balance and flexibility for parents and children of all ages above 3 years old.
These intimate sessions encourage physical interaction, trust and bonding between parents, children and siblings in a calm, creative space. Classes can focus on mindfulness, energetic and trust games, nature themes, acrobatics or restorative yoga with music and visualisations, depending on age.
