A quick summary:
March is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about a disease that affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. This month is an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of early detection and ensure that those affected receive the care and support they need. Every cancer journey is unique, but by raising awareness and promoting proactive healthcare, we can empower people to detect cancer early, access life-saving treatment, and ultimately save more lives.
Taking Action: Raising Awareness around Prostate Cancer
Awareness leads to action. One of the biggest challenges with this disease is that symptoms are often hard to spot, and too many people remain unaware of the PSA blood test - a simple at-home test that could save lives.
Every year, over 52,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer, yet early detection remains a challenge. The PSA blood test, which requires just a quick finger prick, is one of the best ways to catch the disease early. Unfortunately, awareness of this test is still low.
That’s why we stepped in. Last year, we provided discounted PSA testing kits to our customers, and the response was incredible. Not only did it start vital conversations about men’s health, but we also saw a significant increase in people using health screening services through Heka. This initiative reinforced our belief that accessible and proactive healthcare can drive real change. Beyond raising awareness, we also saw a surge in people accessing additional health screening services via Heka. Knowing that we’ve played a role in encouraging proactive healthcare decisions is something we are incredibly proud of.
A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
Health and wellbeing look different for everyone, and they’re constantly evolving. At Heka, we’re committed to offering health-led benefits across more than 50 wellbeing categories, ensuring that our customers can live better, every day.
While variety is key to personal wellbeing, some aspects of health are undeniably black and white. Raising awareness around serious health risks is something we deeply care about - especially after our Co-Founder and CEO, Alex Hind, faced his own major health scare (read his story here). We made it our mission to spotlight the importance of early detection and to highlight just how simple and effective at-home testing can be.
Looking Ahead
At Heka, we believe that prevention and early detection should be at the core of workplace wellbeing. By making health screenings more accessible, we’re empowering people to take control of their health - because cancer care isn’t just about treatment; it’s about early action, awareness, and support.
We’ll continue working to make preventative healthcare more accessible and to keep people at the centre of care. Because when it comes to health, knowledge is power, and early action saves lives.
